Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between Self-esteem and Toxic relationships among university students in Malang. The research employed a quantitative method with a total of 400 respondents. The sample was selected using purposive sampling technique. The measurement instruments used included a Self-esteem scale (α = 0.984) and a Toxic relationship scale (α = 0.928). Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The results showed that there is no significant relationship between Self-esteem and Toxic relationships, with a significance value of 0.162 > 0.05. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that a person's level of Self-esteem does not directly determine whether the individual will be involved in a Toxic relationship. Other, more complex factors may have a greater influence on the emergence of Toxic relationship patterns.
