Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of academic stress on new students in terms of spiritual intelligence. The research method used is quantitative correlational, with a population of 2,428 and a sample of 345 respondents. Sampling was determined using the convenience sampling technique. The measurement tools used were the Perceived Sources of Academic Stress scale (α = 0.805) and the Spiritual Intelligence scale (α = 0.927). Data analysis techniques used simple linear regression. The results of the data analysis showed a regression value of β = -0.185, p = 0.001 < 0.05. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between spiritual intelligence and academic stress among new students of 3.4% with a negative relationship direction, meaning that the higher a person's spiritual intelligence, the lower the level of academic stress experienced by the individual. The implication of this study is the importance of developing spiritual intelligence in the guidance of new students to help them cope with academic stress more effectively.
