Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between hardiness and parenting stress in mothers with dual roles at Majelis Taklim Andalas, Kepulauan Yapen Regency. This quantitative study involved 70 respondents selected using non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. The measuring instruments used were the hardiness scale (α = 0.913) and the parenting stress scale (α = 0.931). The data were analyzed using simple linear regression, yielding a regression coefficient (β) of 0.870 (p = 0.000 < 0.05) with a contribution of 48.2% (R2 = 0.482). The results indicate a significant positive relationship, meaning that the higher the hardiness level, the higher the parenting stress experienced by mothers with dual roles. The majority of respondents were aged 30–39 years (42.9%), predominantly Muslim (98.6%), and mostly with high school education (58.6%). Both variables fall within the moderate category. These findings provide insight that hardiness, while typically considered a protective factor, in this context may be associated with increased parenting demands, suggesting the need for further research into situational factors and coping strategies among working mothers.
