Abstract

Passive attitudes in the classroom, such as being reluctant to ask questions and participate in lessons that have discussion sessions in them, besides that students are embarrassed when asking questions to the teacher, or expressing their opinions in front of their peers are examples of a lack of assertive behavior, as well as what happened to 9th grade students of Muhammadiyah 04 Junior Singosari. Therefore it is necessary to do a method to increase assertive behavior. one of them is the AMT (Achievement Motivation Training) method, which is a training method that is useful in increasing an intended behavior, so the purpose of this research is to increase student assertive behavior, as well as find out whether the AMT (Achievement Motivation Training) method is effective in increasing assertive behavior of SMP Muhammadiyah 04 Singosari students. This research is included in the experimental research with pretest posttest control group design experimental design. The population in this study was grade 9 SMP Muhammadiyah 04 Singosari, and the samples taken in this study totaled 37 students and used a sampling technique with saturated samples. Students were divided into two groups, namely the control and experimental groups. The instrument of this study uses an assertive behavior scale. The treatment was carried out together with the lecturer as the speaker which was carried out in one intervention, and one pretest before the intervention, one posttest after the intervention and two posttests were given one week after the intervention. Analysis of the results of the study using the normality test and t test using SPSS. Based on the results of the normality test, a significant value of 0.200 > 0.05 was obtained, so that the pretest and posttest values were normally distributed. Meanwhile, from the results of the t test, it was found that the results were 0.31 > 0.05, which meant that there were differences in the post-test results of the two groups that were given treatment and were not given treatment. In addition, the comparison of t count and t table results in 2.261 > 2.045. Thus the hypothesis is accepted, namely that there is a significant difference between the AMT (Achievement Motivation Training) Method on the assertive behavior given to the experimental group. So the AMT (Achievement Motivation Training) method is effective in increasing the assertive behavior of Junior High School Muhammadiyah 4 Singosari students in the experimental group.
