Abstract

This study aims to find out the relationship between self-concept and the meaning of life of adolescents living in orphanages in Malang. The hypothesis proposed is that there is a positive relationship between self-concept and the meaning of life of adolescents living in orphanages. The population in this study is adolescents who live in four orphanages in the city of Malang. The sample of this study is adolescents in orphanages aged 11 to 24 years and have lived in orphanages for at least 1 year. The sampling method used saturated sampling with a total of 77 people. The variables used in this study were measured using a scale of meaning of life and self-concept. The data analysis technique used is correlational using a simple linear regression test. The results of the regression test showed that there was a significant relationship between self-concept and meaning of life with a value of R2 = 0.783 and a Sig value of 0.000. This shows that there is a positive relationship between self-concept and the meaning of life of adolescents living in orphanages in Malang. It means that the higher the self-concept you have, the higher the meaning of your life. On the contrary, the lower the self-concept you have, the lower the meaning of his life. The results of the linear regression test showed that the hypothesis was accepted.
