Abstract

Confidence is a belief that helps individuals to achieve their determination, where individuals have a sense of confidence in all aspects of the advantages they have. Lack of self-confidence will cause many problems for individuals. Confidence is a variable that is influenced by a number of factors. Reviewing the various factors that influence self-confidence, the independent variable chosen in this study was parental verbal abuse. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of parental verbal abuse on self-confidence in adolescents. The method used in this study is quantitative with a simple linear regression technique. The subjects in this study were adolescents aged 18 to 22 years, with a sample of 120 students. The location of this research is at the Faculty of Psychology, Merdeka University, Malang. The results show that there is an effect of parental verbal abuse on self-confidence in adolescents, with a significant value of 0.000 on the verbal abuse variable and a significant value of 0.000 on the self-confidence variable.
