Abstract
Long-distance courtship is a relationship between partners who are separated by physical distance. In long-distance dating, many couples do not know that long-distance dating requires self-disclosure and trust in one another because if there is no open communication and trust, it can affect the quality of a relationship. During long-distance dating relationships, increasing self-disclosure and trust can reduce conflicts that might occur. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of trust on self-disclosure in long-distance dating among university students in Malang City. The research design used is quantitative with descriptive methods. The sample in this study were 100 students who were undergoing long-distance dating relationships in Malang City. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with the criteria of active students, aged 18-25 years, having been in a long-distance dating relationship for more than 6 months. The data collection method refers to the Likert scale, namely the self-disclosure scale and the trust scale. The results of the analysis, simple linear regression analysis technique obtained F = 481,973 with a significant value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05) meaning that there is an influence between trust and self-disclosure. Trust contributes influence of 0.831 (83.1%) to self-disclosure.
