Abstract

Adolescents who experience a breakup are often unable to control their emotions which can lead to various risks for the impact of the adolescent's inability to control their emotions. Teenagers who experience a breakup need a process of healing wounds by doing forgiveness. This study aims to determine the effect of emotion regulation on forgiveness in post-breakup adolescents. This study uses quantitative methods with techniques purposive sampling. The subjects in this study were 100 respondents with the criteria of teenagers who had experienced a breakup for a maximum of 6 months. Data analysis used simple regression analysis and obtained a regression coefficient of 0.396 with a p value of 0.000 (p<0.05). The results of this study indicate that emotion regulation has a significant effect on forgiveness in post-breakup adolescents. The effective contribution of emotion regulation to for givenness by 14% and the remaining 86% was influenced by other factors not examined.
