Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress in working students in Malang City. This research method uses quantitative correlation with the number of respondents amounting to 100 respondents. Determination of sampling using accidental sampling technique. The measuring instrument used is a self-efficacy scale (α = 0.893) and an academic stress scale (α = 0.832). Data analysis techniques using simple linear regression. The results of data analysis showed a regression coefficient (β) of -0.600 (p=0,000) <0,05 with a contribution of 36% (R2=0.36). Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a negative relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress in working students in Malang City, and self-efficacy affects academic stress by 36%, the rest is influenced by other factors. This study can provide insight that self-efficacy has a negative relationship with academic stress for working students, in the sense that the higher the self-efficacy of students, the lower the academic stress experienced, and vice versa. So that working students need to increase their self-efficacy to reduce the perceived academic stress.
