Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the relationship body image and selfconfidence in entry-level students. This research method uses quantitative correlational, with a total of 385 respondents. Determination of sampling using purposive sampling technique. The scales used are the body image scale and the self-confidence scale. The data analysis technique uses simple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS 24 for Windows statistical software. The results of data analysis show a correlation coefficient value of 0.000 <0.05. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the self-image variable and the self-confidence variable. body image has a relative contribution of 77.1% to self-confidence in initial level students in Malang City. The direction of the relationship in this study is positive, meaning that the higher body image, the higher self-confidence. On the other hand, the lower your body image, the lower your self-confidence. This research can provide information that body image can predict high and low self-confidence in entry-level students in Malang City, with self-confidence, individuals who have high self-confidence are not easily affected by anxiety when acting. The drive to achieve becomes a strong motivation to reach the peak of potential.
