Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between toxic relationships and self-harm behavior in students. This study used a quantitative correlational method and involved 400 respondents selected using non-probability sampling techniques and using accidental sampling methods. This study used a toxic relationship scale (α = 0.891) and a self-harm scale (α = 0.806) as measuring instruments. The analysis technique used was simple linear regression. The results of the analysis showed a regression coefficient (β) of 0.479 (p = 0.000). From these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between toxic relationships and self-harm behavior and a positive direction, where toxic relationships have a relationship with self-harm of 23% in students. This study can provide information that toxic relationships can predict the level of students who experience self-harm, so it is necessary to provide provisions on how to detect unhealthy relationships and provide education related to self-harm behavior.
