Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between authoritarian parenting and resilience in migrant students from outside Java in Malang City. The research method chosen in this study is quantitative correlation with the research population of migrant students from outside Java who are in Malang City. The determination of the number was carried out using an non-probability sampling methods. Data collection using authoritarian parenting scale and resilience scale. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression. The results of data analysis showed the regression value (β) = 0.208, t (404) = 4.270, and p < 0.05. While the R 2 value of 0.433 is interpreted as the influence of authoritarian parenting on resilience, which is 43%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between authoritarian parenting and resilience in migrant students from outside Java in Malang City with a positive direction, meaning that the higher the authoritarian parenting, the higher the resilience. This study provides implications for efforts to improve the resilience of migrant students from outside Java Island by using authoritarian parenting which can have a positive influence on aspects of resilience such as self-control because of the tendency to get direction from parents.
