Abstract
Adolescence is an important developmental stage marked by the search for self-identity as part of the psychosocial development task. At this stage, adolescents often experience an identity crisis characterized by confusion about roles, values, and life goals. This study aims to determine the dynamics of adolescent identity crises in families with low socioeconomic status. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation of two adolescents who had met the criteria. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, and validity testing using triangulation techniques and sources in this case the subject's family. The results of the study showed differences in the process of exploration and identity commitment in the two participants. Adolescents who received social support and exploration space showed a more active and reflective process of searching for identity, and began to form commitments based on personal aspirations. Conversely, adolescents who faced economic pressures without adequate support tended to form commitments based on family needs without in-depth exploration. This study implies the importance of the role of the social environment in supporting adolescents with low socioeconomic status to explore their potential and form a healthy identity. Interventions are needed in the form of self-development space, access to information, and ongoing social assistance to prevent prolonged identity crises and build a more focused future for adolescents.
