Abstract

The hedonic lifestyle always changes over time. An increasingly modern life brings students to a unique pattern of behavior, which distinguishes one individual from another. Based on this, this study aims to determine the effect of a hedonic lifestyle on consumptive behavior in college students. The research method used is quantitative correlation, data collection using the hedonic lifestyle scale and consumptive behavior scale. The subjects included in the study were students, with a sample of 96 students in Malang City and the sampling technique used was purposive sampling technique. The data collection method uses two scales, namely the hedonic lifestyle scale (25 valid) and the consumptive behavior scale (30 valid). Data analysis used simple linear regression analysis. The results of testing the hypothesis of the effect of a hedonic lifestyle on consumptive behavior were obtained at 0.049, which means that the percentage is 4.9%. The results of the study stated that the hedonic lifestyle and consumptive behavior of students in Malang City were in the low category.
