Abstract

This study aims to find out whether there is a significant influence between parental social support on learning motivation in students at SMP Negeri 5 Kepanjen. This study uses a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression data analysis method. The population in this study is students in grades VIII and IX of SMP Negeri 5 Kepanjen with a sample of 83 students selected using stratified random sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire using a google form. Data analysis was carried out using the SPSS program version 31. The results showed that there was a positive and significant influence between parents' social support on students' learning motivation, which was shown by a determination coefficient (R²) of 0.366, which stated that parental social support made a positive contribution of 36.6% to students' learning motivation, with a significance value of Sig.p 0.000 < 0.05. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the higher the social support provided by parents, the higher the students' motivation to learn. This research is expected to be a basis for consideration for parents, teachers, and schools in increasing learning motivation through sustainable social support.
