Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between workload and job stress among members of the Narcotics Division of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police. The research employed a quantitative correlational approach with a sample of 91 respondents. Sampling was conducted using a census or saturated sampling method. The research instruments included the Job Stress Survey (JSS) scale (α = 0.870) to measure job stress and the Role Overload Scale (ROS) (α = 0.949) to assess workload. Data analysis was performed using simple linear regression. The analysis revealed a standard beta coefficient (β) of 0.849, with t = 15.140 and p < 0.001, and an R² value of 0.720. These results indicate that 72% of job stress variance can be explained by workload. Based on these findings, the study concludes that there is a significant relationship between workload and job stress. The research provides insights demonstrating that excessive workload can lead to job stress among police personnel.
