Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between social support and depression tendencies in job seekers. This research method uses quantitative correlation, with a total of 443 respondents. Sampling determination using quota sampling technique. The measuring instruments used are Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) (α = 0.932) and Beck Depression InventoryII (BDI-II) (α = 0.971). Data analysis techniques using simple linear regression test. The results of data analysis showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and R 2 = 0.034. Based on the results of this study, it is concluded that there is a relationship between social support and depressive tendencies. The implication of this study is to support jobseekers who have a tendency to depression to gain a deeper understanding of jobseeker needs related to maximum utilization of social support, such as jobseeker efforts by choosing a higher quality or more positive social environment, so that through this environment it tends to provide positive support to jobseekers.
