Abstract
The death of a parent, particularly the father, has a significant psychological impact on the surviving son. This study aims to explore the resilience of fatherless boys one year after the death of their fathers. A qualitative method with a phenomenological approach was employed. The subjects of this study were two fatherless boys. The findings indicate that both subjects initially experienced low resilience, characterized by grief symptoms such as depression, social withdrawal, and profound feelings of loss. However, over time, both subjects demonstrated development in resilience aspects, including emotional regulation, empathy, selfefficacy, optimism, and causal analysis abilities. Supportive factors from family and the social environment played a crucial role in shaping the subjects' resilience. This study enriches the understanding of resilience from the perspective of males who have experienced parental loss.
