Abstract

This research is a quantitative correlational study which aims to determine the relationship between self-control and verbal abuse. A form of violence that uses words without touching them physically is called verbal abuse. There are many factors that cause verbal abuse behavior that needs to be studied more deeply, one of which is self-control. The subjects in this study were adolescents in Dusun Selorawan RW 07, Kec. Beji, Kab. Pasuruan as many as 85 people. The data collection method used a questionnaire using a self-control scale and a scale of verbal abuse. The results showed that there was a relationship between self-control and verbal abuse with a correlation coefficient of -0.458 with a moderate level of the relationship between the two variables. The relationship between the two variables which shows a negative number indicates that a person's self-control is high, the lower the person's verbal abuse behavior.
