Abstract
The background of this research is based on the low job readiness of vocational high school graduates, including those at SMKN 4 Malang, which can have an impact on the high unemployment rate. This study aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy on the job readiness of grade X students of SMKN 4 Malang. Selfefficacy was chosen as the independent variable because it is believed to be one of the main internal factors that influence students' readiness to face the world of work. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The research sample consisted of 273 grade X students who had not participated in field work practice (PKL), selected using a purposive sampling technique. The measuring instruments used were the self-efficacy scale (α = 0.993) and the work readiness scale (α = 0.991). The results of data analysis showed that there was a positive and significant influence between self-efficacy on students' job readiness (R² = 0.976, p < 0.05), which means that self-efficacy contributed 97.6% to job readiness. Thus, the higher the students' self-efficacy, the higher their job readiness, even before participating in real work experience such as PKL. This study concludes that self-efficacy is a crucial internal factor in shaping students' work readiness from the beginning of vocational education. The practical implication of these findings is the need for school intervention programs to develop students' self-efficacy to optimally prepare them for the challenges of the workplace.
