Abstract

This research aims to examine the influence of emotional intelligence on victims of dating violence among students in Malang City. The research involved 108 respondents selected by accidental sampling. Data was collected through a questionnaire measured using a Likert scale, consisting of 34 items for emotional intelligence and 39 items for dating violence. The normality test results show that the data is normally distributed. The linearity test shows a linear relationship between the two variables, and a simple linear regression test shows that there is a significant influence on emotional intelligence on dating violence, with a negative relationship direction (β = -0.099, p = 0.000), which means that the higher a person's emotional intelligence, the lower the risk of becoming a victim of dating violence. Although the effective contribution was only 19.6% to dating violence, these findings confirm that emotional intelligence plays an important role in reducing dating violence. This research suggests the need to increase emotional intelligence to prevent violence in dating.
