Abstract

This study aims to describe the consumptive behavior of out-of-town students at the University of Merdeka Malang. especially when the boundary between phenomenon and context is unclear. In such cases, a case study approach within qualitative research is applied to maximize information gathering. Data collection methods include observation and interviews, involving four participants who represent the diversity of consumptive behavior among out-of-town students at the university. The findings reveal that each participant experiences a series of stages before engaging in consumptive behavior. This research focuses on identifying and understanding those stages and the underlying factors influencing the consumptive behavior of out-of-town students at the University of Merdeka Malang.
