Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety in thesis writing among university students in Malang City. This research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The population consisted of students currently working on their thesis in Malang City. The sample was selected using an accidental sampling approach. Data were collected using an anxiety scale and a self-efficacy scale. The data analysis technique used was simple linear regression. The results of the analysis showed a correlation coefficient value of -0.214 and a significance value of 0.003, which is less than 0.05. The conclusion of this study indicates that there is a significant negative relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety in thesis writing among students in Malang City. This means that the higher a student’s self-efficacy, the lower their anxiety during the thesis writing process. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening students’ self-efficacy in Malang to help manage anxiety during thesis completion. It is recommended that lecturers and academic institutions develop mentoring approaches that support students' psychological aspects. Additionally, campus counseling services can use these results to design programs such as stress management training and motivational workshops to help students cope with academic anxiety.
