Abstract

Social anxiety is a condition that makes someone feel embarrassed when they are in a social environment. Symptoms that usually appear when social anxiety is in the form of heart palpitations, voice trembling, feelings of restlessness, anxiety, irritability, tension, easy confusion, difficulty concentrating, nervousness, and avoidance of the social environment. This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of TikTok social media use (X) and social anxiety (Y). This study uses quantitative methods with saturated sampling techniques to obtain research subjects. The subjects in this study were students of SMPK Pamerdi Malang. The data collection process uses a social anxiety scale instrument and the intensity of using TikTok social media in the form of a Likert scale. The data analysis technique uses a simple linear regression test and the data is normally distributed and linear. The results showed that the intensity of using TikTok social media has a significant correlation with social anxiety. With a significant value of 0.000 <0.05 and an R square value of 0.484. So this means that if the intensity of using TikTok social media is high enough, social anxiety will be higher.
