Abstract

This study aims to examine whether there is an influence of self- disclosure on the tendency of academic stress in students who are working on a thesis. In this study, there are two variables, namely self-disclosure as the independent variable and the tendency of academic stress as the dependent variable. The research design uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all students who were working on their thesis. In this study using purposive sampling technique and got participants as many as 100 students. The data collection method uses two psychological scales, namely the self-disclosure adaptation scale, namely the Revised Self- disclosure Scale with 31 items and the modified Educational Stress Scale for Adolenscents with 45 items, while the research instrument is a questionnaire that is distributed. The validity test of the scale uses Pearson's product moment and reliability is measured by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The results showed p = 0.002 (p <0.005) which means that there is a significant influence of self- disclosure with the tendency of academic stress. The effective contribution of self-disclosure to the tendency of academic stress is 49.5% and the remaining 50.9% is explained by other factors.
