Abstract

Work is the main choice of students who attend SMK, but based on the phenomenon that there are many SMK graduates who have not worked. One of the factors that cause vocational graduates to be unemployed is due to a lack of optimism in themselves. Job readiness is an ability that is formed from knowledge and expertise. This study aims to determine the effect of optimism on job readiness in class XII SMK students in Bangil District. The research population was 1220 students of class XII SMK. The measuring instrument used is the scale of readiness and scale of optimism. Test the validity using the formulaproduct momentand reliability test with alpha coefficient formula. Hypothesis testing using a linear regression analysis technique formula that produces a coefficient of 20.408 with a p value of 0.000 (p <0.05). The effect of the variables X and Y is 94.6%. It means that there is a significant effect of optimism on work readiness in class XII SMK students in Bangil District. It is interpreted that the higher the level of optimism, the higher the job readiness one has.
