Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between ethical leadership and job satisfaction among café employees in Malang City. Using a quantitative approach, the study involved 100 participants selected through a snowball sampling and incidental sampling technique. Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires consisting of the Ethical Leadership Scale (ELS) by Brown et al. (2005) and the Job Satisfaction Scale by Spector (1997), both of which demonstrated high reliability (α = 0.924 and α = 0.940 respectively). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability testing (Cronbach's Alpha), normality test (Kolmogorov-Smirnov), linearity test, and simple linear regression analysis. Results showed that ethical leadership has a significant and positive influence on job satisfaction (R² = 0.623, p < 0.001). Most employees perceived their leaders as ethical and reported high levels of job satisfaction. The findings emphasize the importance of ethical behavior in leadership, particularly in service industries such as cafés, and suggest that strengthening ethical leadership practices can significantly enhance employee satisfaction and overall work environment quality.
