Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of the physical and psychological work environment on the performance of junior high school teachers in the Kepanjen District area. The population in this study is junior high school teachers in the Kepanjen distrct. This research method uses quantitative correlational with a total of 111 respondents. Determination of sampling using random sampling techniques. The measuring instruments used are the performance scale (α= 0.997), the physical work environment scale (α= 0.889), and the psychological work environment scale (α= 0.894). The data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression. The results of data analysis show that the regression equation (β) is 0.308, and 0.435 (p=0.000) < 0.05, with a contribution of 37.8% (R²=0.378). Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a positive role between the physical and psychological work environment on the performance of junior high school teachers in the Kepanjen District area, the physical and psychological work environment influences teacher performance by 37.8%. While the rest is influenced by other factors. This research provides implications for reform efforts that can support the physical and psychological work environment in teachers' work areas, in the Kepanjen District area. Teachers can improve their performance by doing positive things related to keeping the work environment clean and comfortable, as well as maintaining good relations between fellow teachers and employees at school.
