Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and forgiveness of adolescent victims of sexual violence. The sample in the study were adolescents aged 12-21 years who were victims of sexual violence totaling 101 people, with sampling using accidental sampling technique. The data collection method in this study uses a type of Likert scale, consisting of a forgiveness scale (α = 0,938) and emotional intelligence (α = 0,937). The data analysis technique in this study uses simple linear regression. The results of this study obtained a correlation coefficient value = 0,227 and a significant level of p = 0,022 (p < 0,05), meaning that there is a significant positive role between emotional intelligence and forgiveness of adolescent victims of sexual violence with a large influence of 5,2%. This study provides information that emotional intelligence can affect the high and low forgiveness of adolescent victims of sexual violence. Emotional intelligence can be improved by practicing self-awareness, managing emotions, motivating yourself, practicing empathy and improving social skills.
