Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between self-image and consumptive behavior among students in Malang City. This study uses a quantitative research method with a correlation method, using two variables, namely self-image and consumptive behavior. The data is disclosed using a self-image scale and a consumer behavior scale. The sample in this study was 100 students in Malang City. Using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis uses statistics, which describe the variables of self-image and consumptive behavior. Based on the research results, it is known that there is a significant negative relationship between self-image and consumptive behavior among students in Malang City, as indicated by the Pearson Correlation (rxy) value of -0.719 with a sign value of 0.000 (p <0.05). Based on this, the hypothesis proposed by the researcher that there is a relationship between self-image and consumptive behavior among students in Malang City is accepted.
