Abstract
According to klonsky & jenifer (in mutia, 2021) self-injury is the behavior in which a person hurts himself not to kill himself but merely to express painful emotions. self-injury is a phenomenon in mental health that can occur in both normal people and patients with a diagnosis of disorders. The purpose of this study is to find out the causes of the behavior toward self-harm in late teens. The research is qualitative in phenomenon. The subject of this study is as many as five subjects. Based on research, the trigger or causes of self-harm behavior tendencies in late adolescence in kupang city vary. Subject 1 imitates his mother's behavior and, and asa form of self-gratification, he blames himself for his mistakes, subject 2.3.4.5 asan emotional release.
