Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of authoritarian parenting on student dating violence. The study population was 7,015 students, using purposive sampling technique with a sample of 100
students. The research instrument used a scale of dating violence and a scale of authoritarian parenting with a Likert scale model. Based on the results of the hypothesis test with a p-value of 0.018 <0.05, it shows that the authoritarian
parenting of parents significantly influences violent dating behavior with a positive relationship direction. This means that the higher the authoritarian parenting style of the parents, the higher the dating violence behavior among students. Conversely, the lower the authoritarian parenting of the parents, the lower the violence in dating among students. Obtained R Square between authoritarian parenting style with violence in dating is 5.6% while the rest is influenced by other factors.
