Abstract

Some cases of violence that occur in adolescents are influenced by aggressive behavior in adolescents who still tend to be unstable. The same thing happened to students at Widyatama Catholic Junior High School in Batu City, from the data obtained there were around 65.30% of students behaving with high aggressiveness and the remaining 34.70% of students had low aggressiveness behavior. Based on this, it is important to conduct research to find out whether parenting and self-control affect aggressiveness in students at Widyatama Catholic Junior High School in Batu City. The sampling technique is to use purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 245 students. the scale used is a parenting scale that adapts from previous research, then the aggressiveness and self-control scale modified by the researcher.The results in this study authoratative parenting (sig. 0.999), permissive parenting (sig. 0.101) and self-control have no effect on aggressiveness behavior. Meanwhile, authoratarian parenting (sig. 0.000), univolved parenting (sig. 0.000) and self-control have an effect on aggressiveness behavior. Based on the results of the hypothesis testing that has been carried out, it is found that the results of self-control and parenting patterns provide the influence of parenting on aggressiveness behavior in students at Widyatama Catholic High School in Batu City. From the results of the analysis it is
also known that authoratative and authoratarian parenting also affect the behavior of aggressiveness in students, besides that permissive parenting also affects the occurrence of aggressiveness behavior and for univolved parenting it is found that it has no effect on aggressiveness behavior in students at Widyatama Catholic Junior High School in Batu City. the effective contribution given by authoratative parenting is 34.1%, authoratarian parenting is 41.5%, permissive parenting is 35% and univolved parenting is 35,7%.
