Abstract

Low self-confidence is the biggest obstacle for a child, who is actually capable and competent but cannot fully demonstrate their abilities. The increasing number of single-parent families in modern society is believed to have an impact on children's
self-confidence. The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of single parenting on children's self-confidence. This research method is non-experimental quantitative. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The participants in this study were 104 children aged 10 to 12 years old or those in the 5th and 6th grades of Elementary School. The measurement tool used was a self-confidence scale with a validity score range of 0.351-0.709 and a reliability value of 0.917. The parenting style scale had a validity score range of 0.345-0.767 with a reliability value of 0.937. Simple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The results of this study indicate that single parenting significantly influences
children's self-confidence with a significance value of 0.00, and there is an influence of 0.812 or equivalent to 81.2% from the parenting style variable on selfconfidence.
