Abstract
Football is a popular sport and has developed in Indonesia. The support given by fans to their favorite team often gives to an excessive attitude. These expectations often lead to illogical attitudes, various ways are used to see his team win the game. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship
between fanaticism and self-esteem on the verbal aggressiveness of Arema supporters. Quantitative methods were chosen in this study, so as to produce data in the form of numbers (numeric). The measuring instrument used in this
study is the Likert scale which refers to aspects of self-esteem, fanaticism and verbal aggressiveness. The population in this study is Aremania members who are members of Aremania for at least 5 years whose number is unknown, with a sample of 96 supporters. The results of the study from 96 respondents showed that the level of self-esteem and verbal aggressiveness was in the medium category while fanaticism was in the high category. The results showed a significance value (p) of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These results indicate that there is a significant and positive relationship between fanaticism and verbal aggressiveness and there is a significant and positive relationship between selfesteem and fanaticism on verbal aggressiveness in accordance with the hypothesis, while the self-esteem variable has a significant and negative relationship between self-esteem and verbal aggressiveness where this is not in accordance with the hypothesis, with the effect of self-esteem and fanaticism on verbal aggressiveness of 43.8%.
