Abstract

Individuals in early adulthood carry significant responsibilities and often encounter various life issues. These life challenges may lead them to seek entertainment by accessing internet products, including online games. However, excessive online
gaming addiction during early adulthood can be detrimental as it may hinder prioritizing essential needs and preparing for the future. Individuals with low life satisfaction tend to escape through excessive online gaming. This research examines the relationship between Life Satisfaction and Online Gaming Addiction among young adults. The study employs a quantitative approach with a correlational model. The research instruments used are the Online Gaming Addiction Scale and the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS). The sample size in
this study is 96 individuals, selected through non-probability sampling using Purposive Sampling based on predefined criteria. The results show no significant relationship between life satisfaction and online gaming addiction, with a correlation coefficient of r = -0.127 and p = 0.219 (p < 0.05). Consequently, based on the correlation calculation, the hypothesis proposed in this study is rejected. Based on the conducted research and the presented theories, it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between life satisfaction and online gaming addiction among young adults.
