Abstract

Adolescents who have an image related to the appearance of a negative body shape make individuals less confident, the emergence of excessive anxiety about their shortcomings, so that in interacting or establishing relationships with other individuals they tend to look at the state of the body and compare between individuals. To overcome this, good interpersonal relationships are needed, namely relationships formed by one or more people in terms of interacting to achieve a common goal. This study is a quantitative study that aims to determine whether or not the influence of interpersonal relationships with body image on female students. The subject of this research is an active student at Merdeka University, Malang, who is female. The sample in this study were female students totaling 274 xvii people with accidental sampling technique. Methods of data collection by using the scale of interpersonal relationships and body image scale. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence of interpersonal relationships and body image with a value of 0.442. With a significant value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). So it can be concluded that the interpersonal relationship variable has a significant effect of 42.2% on body image and the remaining 57.8% is influenced by other factors.
