Abstract

The condition that currently occurs among adolescents is low self-control due to playing online games too often. With online games, teenagers who have a high intensity of playing tend to have poor self-control. This study aims to determine the relationship between authoritarian parenting and self-control of adolescents who play online games in Batu City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The measuring instruments in this study refer to the theory and aspects of authoritarian parenting by Stewart and Koch and the theory and aspects of self-control by Averill. The sample size was 96 adolescents who were rounded up to 100 respondents in Batu City. Sampling was carried out using the slovin formula with a standard error of 10% with purposive sampling technique and using probability sampling method and then analyzed using normality, linearity, and hypothesis tests. The results of this study showed that the data were normally distributed with a significance of 0.200 (p>0.05), and the data in this study were declared linear with a number of 0.009 (p <0.05). This data is also correlated with a value of = 0.225 using a significance level of 0.024 (p<0.05)
