Abstract

A serious problem that has arisen recently is the aggressive behavior of students in the educational environment. This aggressive behavior has spread to elementary school children. One of the factors causing the emergence of aggressive behavior is the permissive parenting style. This study aims to determine the relationship between permissive parenting and aggressive behavior of students of SDN Inpres Perumnas I Waena Jayapura City. The method used is quantitative correlation. The study population was 598 students of SDN Inpres Perumnas I Waena Jayapura City. The sample used amounted to 86 students in grades IV, V, and VI who were taken using purposive sampling and proportionate stratified random sampling techniques. Measuring instruments or data collection tools in this study used permissive parenting scale and aggressiveness scale. Data analysis using simple linear regression test. The results of this study indicate that the correlation coefficient obtained is 0.336 with a significance value of 0.002 <0.05, so the hypothesis is accepted. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between permissive parenting and aggressive behavior of students of SDN Inpres Perumnas I Waena Jayapura City. The hypothesis test results show a positive relationship direction, which means that the higher the permissive parenting, the higher the level of student aggressive behavior, and vice versa. Permissive parenting contributes 11.3% to aggressive behavior
