Abstract
Stress is described as a condition that causes significant mental or emotional tension. In early adulthood, the inability to control stressful situations can have an impact on eating behavior and the use of substances such as alcoholic drinks, which individuals may use as a means to relieve the stress they experience. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of stress levels on the tendency to consume alcohol in early adulthood in Malang city. The population in this study were early adults in the city of Malang aged 18-25 years. The sampling technique used is accidental sampling. The number of participants was taken as many as 100 using Lemeshow's theory. This research uses quantitative methodology and uses non-probability sampling as a sampling technique. This research instrument uses a questionnaire with a stress level scale and an alcohol consumption scale. The analysis in this study used simple linear regression analysis to test whether there was an influence of stress levels on the tendency to consume alcohol in early adulthood in the city of Malang. The results of the research show that there is a positive relationship between stress levels and the tendency to consume alcohol, which means that the higher the level of stress experienced by young adults, the higher the tendency to consume alcohol. This influence is proven by the sig value. amounting to 0.000 < 0.05, which means that there is a significant influence between stress levels on the tendency to consume alcohol in early adulthood in the city of Malang. Based on the hypothesis test, the calculated F value was found to be 595.831, which means that there is an influence between stress levels and the tendency to consume alcohol and the magnitude of the influence of stress levels on the tendency to consume alcohol is 0.857
