Abstract
One of the tasks of students as early adults is to get a job. In fact, in the field, fresh graduate students find it difficult to get a job because of the tight selection of employees, high competition, and reduced job vacancies during this pandemic. The availability of fewer jobs, the high level of competition in looking for work will cause anxiety in students where the most dominant anxiety is the fear of failure. The high perception of parental expectations level can trigger a fear of failure. This research is a type of correlation research that aims to determine whether or not there is a relationship between perceptions of parents' expectations with fear of failure to get the desired job in final semester students. The data collection technique used an instrument of perception scale of parents' expectations level and fear of failure scale. Test the validity of the scale using Pearson's product moment, obtaining the results that all items on both scales are declared valid, with the reliability of the scale included in the very reliable category. The sample in this study amounted to 201 students from the 2017 and 2018 batches of Merdeka University Malang with a purposive sampling technique. The results of hypothesis testing carried out by the Pearson product moment method obtained a significance score of 0.299. The score indicates if the hypothesis in this study is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between perceptions of parents' expectations level with fear of failure to get the desired job in final semester students.
