Abstract

In today's global era, the opportunity for women to become independent is more likely better than before. However, with a rooted patriarchal culture in society, there is still a fear for women to achieve independence.The tendency of Cinderella Complex is a phenomenon about fear to be independent in women which makes them more comfortable depending on other people, especially men. One of the influencing factors which also discusses independence is self- maturity. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-maturity and the tendency of the Cinderella Complex in students of the Faculty of Psychology, University of Merdeka Malang. By using purposive-sampling technique with some research sample criteria, namely (active) students in early adults and single status, the data was obtained from 39 samples. The results of the Pearson correlation test show the number -0.754 with a significance value of p < 0.01 which explains a strong negative relationship between self maturity and Cinderella Complex tendencies, thus the hypothesis can be accepted. This means that the higher the self-maturity, the lower the Cinderella Complex tendency, and vice versa.
