Abstract

Social media is often a platform that introduces pressure to always appear perfect, portrays an ideal life, and fuels detrimental social comparisons. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between body image and psychological well-being among students who use social media. This research uses quantitative methods with a correlational design. The subjects of this research are students who use social media. The sampling technique used is accidental sampling technique. The research measuring instrument uses a body image and psychological well being scale, with reliability of 0.888 and 0.912. The results of the regression analysis obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, the t value obtained was 7.161 > t table, namely 1.987 and the β value was 0.586. These results indicate that there is a significant positive relationship between body image and psychological well being. This means that the more positive the body image of students using social media, the higher their psychological well-being, and vice versa. The body image variable has an influence of 34.4%
