Abstract

Thesis is something that must be completed when students are in college. During the thesis completion process, students may face several obstacles. Academic burnout is one of the phenomena that often occurs among students when they are in the thesis completion phase. Academic burnout is a condition where students will experience fatigue or saturation both physically, mentally, and emotionally which will also have an impact on student achievement due to existing academic demands. Emotional stability is thought to be related to the tendency of academic burnout itself. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between emotional stability and academic burnout in students who are working on a thesis. This research is a quantitative study with a correlational method. This research instrument uses emotional stability scale and academic burnout scale. The number of subjects in this study were 100 active students in Malang City who were working on their thesis. The results showed a significant negative relationship between emotional stability and academic burnout (r = 0.607;p=0.000). This means that the lower the emotional stability, the higher the tendency for students to experience academic burnout and vice versa.
