Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of authoritarian parenting on cyberbullyingbehavior in adolescents. Research that has been conducted on 100 adolescentswith an age range of 12 years to 21 years of social media users with a collectionmethod through google form. The method used in this research is quantitativedescriptive method. Research data were collected using Andhini's adaptedauthoritarian parenting scale (2020) and Regis's adapted cyberbullying scale(2018) which were compiled based on Hurlock's (1992) authoritarian parentingtraits and Chadwick's (2014) cyberbullying aspects. This study uses the SimpleLinear Regression test to determine the effect on the independent variable on thedependent variable. The results of data analysis show that there is an effect ofauthoritarian parenting on cyberbullying behavior in adolescents aged 12 years to21 years using social media, with a significance value of 0.003 <0.05. This meansthat the higher the authoritarian parenting, the higher the cyberbullying behavior.This means that the higher the authoritarian parenting is applied, the higher thecyberbullying behavior. The contribution of authoritarian parenting to cyberbullyingbehavior is 8.1%. Thus, the hypothesis in this study is accepted
