Abstract
Public speaking anxiety is a phenomenon that is often experienced by students. students who experience public speaking anxiety tend to humble themselves, consider themselves unpleasant, think negatively about themselves so that students will have difficulty developing themselves. One aspect that can affect public speaking anxiety is self efficacy. Students who can believe in their abilities tend to be more confident in themselves easily and in completing and doing their assignments to the best of their ability. The purpose of this research was to findout the relationship between self efficacy and public speaking anxiety among students at the Merdeka University of Malang. The method used in this study uses a correlational quantitative method with a scale in the form of a questionnaire with two variables, namely self efficacy and public speaking anxiety. The sample used in this study were 380 students from 5961 students who were calculated using the slovin formula. Measuring tools used in this study are the Self Efficacy scale and Public Speaking anxiety scale, with sampling using the random sampling method according to the needs and characteristics that have been compiled by researchers. The data analysis technique used in this study was the pearson product moment which was then processed using the SPSS v.21 aplication for Windows. The result of this study indicate that there is a negative relationship of -0.341 between self efficacy and public speaking anxiety. Which means the higher students self efficacy will have the lower anxiety level of public speaking, and vice versa the lower students of self efficacy will have the higher anxiety level of public speaking.
