Abstract

Social Media has a positive effect as well as a negative effect related to adolescent Self Esteem. One of the positive effects of using Social Media is to increase Self Esteem while one of the negative effects of Social Media is to decrease Self Esteem. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using Tiktok social media on Self Esteem. This research is quantitative non- experimental. The sample in this study amounted to 100 students using social media tiktok in the city of Malang. Using a random sampling technique, with a scale measuring the use of social media tiktok (49 valid) and a self-esteem scale (45 valid) in the form of a Likert scale. The reliability coefficient is 0.886 for the tiktok social media use variable and 0.942 for the self-esteem variable. The results of the hypothesis using the T-test of the variable use of social media tiktok of 0.008. a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05, it is concluded that there is an influence between the use of Tiktok Social Media on Self Esteem.
