Abstract

Welfare is a measure of whether a country is in a prosperous condition. Welfare is closely related to development and economic conditions in society. Economic development in Indonesia prioritizes rural areas because about 70% population k lives in the countryside. Therefore, through the Law on Villages, the government has given complete authority to regions and villages to regulate and manage community interests, such as the formation of business entities such as Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes).
BUMDes is intended as a forum to facilitate economic activities to improve community welfare. However, BUMDes management is considered not yet optimal, especially in Torongrejo Village, Junrejo District, Batu City. This research aims to determine management BUMDes as well as factors that encourage and hinder the management of BUMDes in Torongrejo Village, Junrejo District, Batu City.
The type of research used is qualitative using a descriptive approach. The data collection methods used were observation, literature study, interviews and documentation.
The results of the research show that the management of BUMDes is in accordance with the provisions and objectives of its formation. However, it cannot be denied that there are still weaknesses and shortcomings in its management, so that it is still difficult to realize the welfare of the people of Torongrejo Village. Some of the weaknesses and disadvantages include, BUMDes' lack of providing socialization to the community so that the community cannot participate in developing BUMDes, lack of government education regarding the existence and function of BUMDes and limited human resources.
