Abstract

Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan is the oldest village in Malang City, which has successfully transformed into a cultural tourism village, attracting many visitors. This heritage village was officially inaugurated on April 22, 2018, and can now attract between 1,000 and 1,200 tourists per week. Given that Malang City is currently developing its tourism sector, there is a need for the community, especially the residents of Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan, to support the ongoing tourism development in their area. The objectives of this research are: (1) to identify and analyze community participation in the development of tourism in Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan, and (2) to identify and analyze all factors influencing community participation in Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan.
This research uses a qualitative method conducted in Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan. The data collection techniques employed are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis is based on the analytical model proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014).
The research findings indicate that the development of tourism in Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan has progressed year by year. The surrounding community has largely participated in the tourism development of the village. This is also related to hindering factors such as demographic characteristics of the population and external influences (especially from tourists), as well as supporting factors like opportunities for the community, their willingness to foster interest, and their ability to take advantage of existing opportunities.
