Abstract

This research aims to describe and determine the role of the Environmental Service in managing waste in Batu City based on Batu Mayor Regulation no. 66 of 2020 concerning Waste Management Guidelines. This research method is research with a qualitative approach. Qualitative research is a problem solving approach based on descriptions that do not materialize in numbers. Data collection was carried out using interview, observation and documentation techniques. Data analysis, in this research, uses 4 components consisting of data collection, condensation, data presentation and drawing conclusions.
From the results of this research, it can be seen that the role of the Environmental Service in waste management includes providing services in handling and managing waste, providing facilities and infrastructure for waste management, reducing waste, carrying out supervision and guidance. In carrying out its role in waste management, there are several factors inhibiting and supporting its implementation, the government is very supportive and always provides facilities for waste management in Batu City, but there is a lack of facilities and infrastructure in management, a lack of human resources and public awareness in waste management as well. influencing the role of the Environmental Service in its management.
Recommendations that can be given from the results of this research are enforcing regulations related to waste management, adding facilities with technology to reduce waste, by providing understanding to the public to be aware of the environment and be able to actively participate in waste management independently.
